Administrative Compensation System

Jeffco School District's Administrative Salary Schedule and Benefits

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Understanding the Compensation System

Representation and Accountability:
JCAA officers and representatives meet with District leadership on a regular basis to provide an ongoing forum for discussion of issues related to administrative compensation including:

  • general compensation philosophies,
  • how variable pay is allocated each year, and
  • monitoring and correcting discrepancies and/or inequities.

The system is reviewed and evaluated by the Administrative Compensation Committee. JCAA representatives serve on this committee.

Compensation Philosophy and Commitment:

  • Administrator and professional / technical employee salaries are increased only by performance, through: 1) Evaluation Increase (equal to COLA), and/or 2) Variable Pay (see below).
  • Salary schedule grades are market-based and position specific. The salary schedule is published on the Jeffco Schools web site.
  • No administrator is ever paid below the minimum or above the maximum in his/her grade on the administrative pay schedule.

Evaluation Increase:
Administrators meeting or exceeding standards on their annual performance evaluation are given an Evaluation Increase equal to a determined COLA. The percentage earned may be dependent on whether an administrator meets or exceeds standards or does not meet standards. Those who do not meet standards receive no Evaluation Increase. Evaluation Increases are added to the base salary for all administrators and professional/technical employees.

Variable Pay:
In lieu of automatic Step increases, administrators can earn Variable Compensation. Variable Pay goals are determined by District Cabinet each year and are tied to the District Strategic Plan. District Cabinet determines Variable Compensation allocations. Administrators who meet all or a percentage of their goals earn up to a set percentage of their base salary over and above their Evaluation Increase.
